Donato Sansone
After graduating at the Fine Arts Academy in Naples, Donato Sansone attended the Centro
Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Turin, where he specialized in mixing traditional and
experimental animation techniques with live action. He used to work as a freelance artist with
the most creative advertising agencies and music labels in Italy (Afterhours, Subsonica,
Verdena, Francesco de Gregori, Ferrari, Samsung,...). His work experience includes videoclips,
shorts and TV commercials. His videos have been selected and screened in film festivals all
around the world (Annecy Animation Film Festival, Anima mundi festival Brasil, Hiroshima
animation,...) and shared by the most popular dedicated blogs (stashmedia.tv,
creativeapplications.net, motiongraphics.nu, wired.com, Vimeo staff picks and hundreds more).
The Cinémathèque Québécoise recognised his work “Videogioco” among the 50 short films
that changed the history of animation. In 2009, the French magazine "Cahiers du cinéma" wrote
an article about his short film "Videogioco". In 2013, "L’Oeil de Links" covered a story on his
work and, in 2014, "Grotesque Photobooth" was selected by Saatchi & Saatchi for New
Directors Showcase at the Cannes International Festival of Creativity. In November 2015, he
made the short film "Journal animé", produced by Canal+ for the "Collection dessine toujours".
"Journal animé" was nominated for an animation Oscar in 2016 and for a César award in 2017.
In June 2018, his video "Ghostcrash" went viral, reaching over 150 million views on the web.
