Rafael Beauchamp

Rafaël Beauchamp is a French Canadian filmmaker and a bachelor from the Université du Québec à Montréal. He is interested in enhancing modern societal issues through the lens of genre cinema. His films have been screened internationally at festivals such as SXSW, Palm Springs, Leiden Shorts and Inside Out. He is currently working on his next two fiction short films, as well as writing his first feature film, as a part of the Sundance Ignite program of the Sundance Institute.

Born in Magog and raised in Quebec City, Rafaël uproots himself in 2017 to pursue film studies in Montreal, where he directs LA CRISE, a short film selected in several international festivals. His first documentary short, BEYOND THE VOID, won the ARRQ award for Best Direction at the screening of his graduating class' films, while currently touring the world. Right out of university, his screenplay for THE FADING wins the 2021 edition of the creative lab Cours écrire ton court, organized by SODEC and presented at SXSW 2023.

Winning a grant from the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television allows him to work on two new short films, funded by SODEC, the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des Arts du Québec, as well as writing his first feature film, GLASS EYES.
