Rudy Valdez

Rudy Valdez is a New York City-based filmmaker known for creating impactful documentary films on social, cultural, and political issues. He began his career as a camera operator on the Peabody Award-winning Sundance series "Brick City." His notable works include:

- Cinematographer for "The Last Patrol" (HBO) by Sebastian Junger
- Director of Photography for "Whoopi Goldberg Presents Moms Mabley" (HBO), which premiered at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival
- Director of Photography for "Remembering the Artist, Robert De Niro, Sr." (HBO), which premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival
- Director of Photography for "The Conversation Series," a New York Times Op-Doc
- Cinematographer for the BET series "Second Coming?: Will Black America Decide the 2012 Election?"
- Director of Photography for "Prison Dogs" (2015 Tribeca Film Festival)
- Cinematographer for "Buried Above Ground" (Woodstock Film Festival)

Valdez has several completed projects awaiting release, including "In Libro Vitae" by David O’Russell, "The Talk" by Sam Pollard for PBS, and "The Sentence," a documentary he shot and directed about mandatory minimums and sentencing reform. He co-produces "Find the Funny," a variety show featuring comedy shorts he co-writes, directs, and creates. Valdez has also shot PSAs for WWE, Susan G. Komen, America Works, and NYC Office of Veterans Affairs. He is a proud mentor at the Ghetto Film School.
