Lebanese Film “Crow Man” Wins Grand Prix at 12th Insomnia Animation Festival
The 12th International Insomnia Animation Film Festival, held in Russia, has announced its winners, with the Lebanese short film "Crow Man" directed by Yohann Abdelnour receiving the prestigious Grand Prix. The festival, which celebrates excellence in animated filmmaking, featured a diverse selection of films from around the world.
The "Profnastil" prize for the best international short animated film was awarded to "Architect A" directed by Jonghoon Lee from Korea. The "Debutoria" prize for the best young animation went to "It's Just a Whole" by Bianca Scali from Germany. The award for the best non-narrative or experimental work, "Equilibristics," was given to "[S]" directed by Mario Radev from the United Kingdom.
The jury also gave a special prize to "A Kind of Testament" by Stephen Vuillemin from France. The award for the best children's film, "Children's Dreams," went to "Yuck!" directed by Loïc Espuche, also from France. The "Music of the Night" award for the best musical work was given to "Let U Go" by Jean-Baptiste Bertholom, another French entry.
In the national competition, the prize for the best Russian film was awarded to "Teenage Rain" by Maria Savenkova. The jury gave special mentions to "Minus Plus Multiply" by Chu-Chieh Lee from the United Kingdom, "Swimming With Wings" by Daphna Awadish from the Netherlands, and "The Lovers" by Carolina Sandvik from Sweden.
The jury also awarded diplomas to several notable films: "La Perra" by Carla Melo Gampert from Colombia, "Mother America" by Anya Shveigolz from Russia, "Tao" by Shuxin Yan Wang, Simai Stella Huang, and Haoran Yan Yang from Hong Kong, "The Brook That Ran Back To The Mountain" by Alexandr Khramtsov from Russia, "The Deer" by Baran Sedighian from the Netherlands, and "Vision" by Çağıl Harmandar from Japan.
The festival jury comprised esteemed animation directors Tatyana Kiseleva, Anastasia Lisovets, Ashot Mephodzin, and Svetlana Razgulyaeva, along with film critic Alexey Filippov, who together evaluated the submissions and selected the winners.
