Fantoche 2024 Reveals Lineup: 85 Animated Shorts Chosen from Over 2,800 Submissions

The Fantoche 2024 international animation film festival in Baden, Switzerland has finalized its film selections. From over 2,800 submissions, the festival's selection team has chosen 85 animated short films to compete across three main categories: the International Competition, the Swiss Competition, and the Kids Film Competition. The International Competition features 25 films, the Swiss Competition includes 16 films, and the Kids Film Competition showcases 21 entries. An additional 21 films will be screened in the festival's Panorama programs. The complete festival program will be unveiled on August 14, 2024, when ticket sales will also commence.

The Fantoche 2024 international animation film festival, taking place in Baden, Switzerland from September 3-8, has finalized its selection of films for the upcoming edition. The festival received over 2,800 submissions, and the Fantoche selection team has chosen 85 animated short films to compete across three main categories: the International Competition, the Swiss Competition, and the Kids Film Competition.

In the International Competition, 25 films will compete for 5 coveted awards: Best Film, High Risk, New Talent, Best Visual, and the Audience Award. Some of the highlights include "Acid Green EXYL" from Singapore, "Between Delicate and Violent" from Turkey, and "Dreams About Putin" from a Portugal/Belgium/Hungary collaboration.

The Swiss Competition features 16 films vying for 6 prizes: Best Swiss Film, High Swiss Risk, New Swiss Talent, Fantastic Swiss, Swiss Youth Award, and the Audience Award. Notable entries include "BOX" by Aline Schoch, "Dieter" by Rolf Broennimann, and "Voiceless" by Samuel Patthey.

The Kids Film Competition will showcase 21 films competing for the Best Kids and Children's Audience Awards. Titles such as "Bubbles" from China, "Hoofs on Skates" from Lithuania, and "The Swineherd" from Denmark are among the highlights.

In addition to the competitive programs, the festival will also feature 21 films in its Panorama sections, offering a diverse selection of animated shorts from around the world.

The Fantoche 2024 festival will also place a thematic focus on "All We Need Is Love," curated by Slovenian filmmaker and producer Špela Čadež. This program will explore themes of empathy and humanity through short film programs and feature films. Additionally, the festival will shine a spotlight on Austrian animation, with a series of short film programs curated by Djamila Grandits in collaboration with the Tricky Women festival.

The complete festival program will be unveiled on August 14, 2024, when ticket sales will also commence. Fantoche 2024 promises to be a truly captivating celebration of the art of animation, showcasing the best of global and Swiss talent.
