The London International Animation Festival (LIAF) 2024, set to run from November 22 to December 1, has announced its official film selection for the international competition. This year's edition promises a diverse offering of 97 films from 31 different countries, selected from a staggering 2,400 submissions. Screenings will take place across five renowned London venues: the Barbican, Garden Cinema, Horse Hospital, Puppet Theatre Barge, and Close Up Cinema.

The competition will be divided into eight themed programs, including categories like "Abstract Showcase," "Into the Dark," "Animated Documentaries," "From Absurd to Zany," and "Stop-Motion Panorama." These programs will explore a range of themes and artistic styles, embracing LIAF’s signature blend of surreal and thought-provoking content. Notable films include Beautiful Men by Nicolas Keppens (Belgium/France/Netherlands), A Round of Applause for Death by Stephen Irwin (UK), and Electronic Insects by Keum-Taek Jung (USA).

Beyond the competition, LIAF 2024 will present popular recurring programs such as "Late Night Bizarre," "Best of the Next" (student films), and a special "Music Videos" showcase. There will also be programs focusing on family-friendly films, industry talks, and exclusive feature films. The festival continues its tradition of embracing both live and virtual audiences, ensuring a global reach with an extensive online program.

In addition to the international competition, LIAF 2024 will feature a British Showcase, highlighting domestic talent. This section will include films like Alan the Infinite by Mikey Please and Dan Ojari, It All Comes Down by Meg Earls, and Sour Days by Faye Ameera Saffron Craig.

As LIAF organizers prepare for this year's edition, excitement builds around its eclectic mix of artistic innovation and boundary-pushing animation. The full lineup, including synopses and trailers, will be released in the coming weeks.
