The Whistler Film Festival (WFF) has officially unveiled the first round of industry guests set to participate in its 2024 Content Summit. Scheduled from December 4 to 7 in Whistler, British Columbia, the Summit is designed to provide attendees with invaluable access to top industry leaders across film, television, and digital media.

This year’s Content Summit will offer over 25 dynamic sessions, featuring panel discussions, masterclasses, and 1:1 Market Meetings, creating numerous networking and learning opportunities. Attendees will engage with broadcasters, distributors, streamers, and agents, covering topics from showrunning and documentary filmmaking to Indigenous languages in the global marketplace and audience development through big data.

“For 24 years the Whistler Film Festival, in one of the most beautiful locations in Canada, has been the place where creators and executives alike can soak up countless film and screen projects, negotiate, mentor, and above all else, build relationships and lasting connections,” said Angela Heck, executive director of the Whistler Film Festival Society. Heck highlighted the significance of the Content Summit in fostering Canada’s filmmaking talent and its role in launching new screen projects across various platforms.

Noteworthy industry professionals confirmed for the Content Summit include Emily Alden (Brightlight Pictures), Tina Apostolopolous-Moriz (Lark Productions), Amber-Sekowan Daniels (SNOTTY NOSE REZ KIDS), Hilary Hart (Game Theory Films), Adam Koehler (IFC Films, RLJE, Shudder), and Melanie Nepinak Hadley (Warner Bros. Discovery Access Canada). The summit's programming aims to appeal to a wide range of industry insiders, with sessions on topics such as showrunning, casting, music, and distribution strategies.

In addition to in-person networking opportunities, WFF will host a series of online 1:1 Market Meetings from December 10 to 12, giving geographically remote creators, particularly from Northern Canada, access to industry experts. Confirmed guests for the virtual sessions include Natalie Igelfeld (Bell Media) and Lauren Whitelaw (OUTtv Network).

WFF has also announced that a limited number of industry passes are now available for purchase on their website, offering full access to all Summit activities, film screenings, and exclusive events. Passes include access to the Content Summit, 1:1 Market Meetings, and après receptions, along with the WFF Industry Centre and virtual Industry Hub.

Attendees can pre-register for the 1:1 Market Meetings and roundtable discussions, which run from December 4 to 7 in person, followed by online sessions from December 10 to 12. Registration for these opportunities opens on November 4, with schedules being announced later in November.

With more industry guests yet to be revealed, the 2024 Content Summit promises to be an essential event for those looking to engage with key decision-makers in film and television, while building meaningful industry connections in the picturesque setting of Whistler, BC.
