The Tribeca Festival, one of the premier platforms for global storytellers, has officially opened submissions for its 2025 edition. Filmmakers, creators, and artists are invited to submit projects across a wide range of categories, including feature and short films, episodic works, video games, and audio storytelling. Submissions can be made via the Tribeca Extranet or FilmFreeway, with some categories exclusive to the Extranet.

Key Deadlines and Fees

Submission deadlines for 2025 begin on October 16, 2024, with an early deadline fee starting at $20 for audio storytelling and going up to $425 for feature films. The final extended deadline is February 25, 2025, with fees reaching $575 for feature films. Short films and music videos can be submitted for as little as $50 during the official deadline.

Filmmakers and creators will be notified of their project status by mid-April 2024. For those submitting after a category’s deadline, Tribeca offers flexibility if applicants contact the festival directly.

Expanding Categories and Opportunities

The 2025 Tribeca Festival continues its tradition of celebrating innovation by expanding opportunities in audio storytelling, gaming, and brand-supported projects.

  • Audio Storytelling now includes categories for independent and established creators, accepting submissions of podcasts, standalone audio pieces, and audiobook chapters. Selected projects will be eligible for awards and featured in live festival events.
  • Tribeca Games emphasizes the narrative and artistic potential of video games, including console, VR, AR, and mobile projects. Selected games will also be considered for the Tribeca Creators Market.
  • Tribeca NOW highlights episodic storytelling and offers creators access to the exclusive Tribeca Creators Market, where they can pitch new projects to industry leaders.

Tribeca X Awards and Special Recognitions

The Tribeca X program recognizes storytelling at the intersection of art and advertising. New categories include Creator/Influencer Collaborations and Commercial Spots, celebrating innovative partnerships between brands and creators. In addition, two special juried awards—the Social Impact Award and Environmental Impact Award—will honor projects addressing pressing social and environmental issues.

The Creators Market

A cornerstone of Tribeca’s commitment to emerging voices, the Creators Market is a curated industry event offering filmmakers and storytellers opportunities to pitch projects to distributors, producers, and other key decision-makers. Participants will include creators from various disciplines, from audio to gaming to episodic storytelling.

Submission Rules and Requirements

All projects must adhere to specific guidelines, including runtime and language requirements. For example, audio storytelling entries must be in English and include a single episode or standalone piece. Video game submissions are open to internationally produced projects but exclude tabletop games. Works-in-progress are eligible in select categories, provided applicants include representative footage and detailed project outlines.
