Animac 2025 Receives Over 700 Films from 71 Countries, Marking Record Growth

The Animac International Animation Film Festival of Catalonia has received a record 721 film submissions for its 2025 edition, representing 71 countries. France leads with 171 entries, followed by Spain and the UK. Notable growth includes 159 more films and submissions from 18 additional countries compared to last year. Pro registration and various event accreditations remain open until December 13.

Animac, the International Animation Film Festival of Catalonia, has announced an impressive milestone for its 2025 edition, receiving a total of 721 film submissions from 71 countries through its open call for entries. This marks a substantial increase from the 562 films submitted by 53 countries last year, demonstrating the growing vitality of the global animation industry.

France leads the submissions with 171 films, followed by Spain (70), the United Kingdom (39), and a tie between the United States and Canada (34 each). Germany also contributed significantly with 31 entries. Of these, 283 short films came from animation schools, accounting for nearly 40% of the total, underscoring Animac's critical role in promoting emerging talent in the field.

The festival’s professional section, Animac Pro, continues to invite registrations until December 13. Key initiatives under Animac Pro include:

  • Incubator, a developmental platform where creators present projects to experts for feedback and growth opportunities.
  • Animacrea, an interactive area where animation schools and universities host workshops and activities for the public.
  • Animac Campus, a dedicated space for film and animation students to engage with industry professionals.
  • Professional accreditations, offering networking opportunities for companies and sector professionals.

With a marked increase of 159 films and 18 additional countries represented this year, Animac reaffirms its position as a pivotal platform for the global animation community. The festival continues to bridge industry professionals and aspiring creators, championing innovation and creativity in animation.
