Anifilm 2025, held in the Czech Republic, debuts a student games competition for creators from the Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, and Slovakia. The Game Pitch Arena, backed by the PPF Foundation, offers EUR 10,000 for indie developers. Professional game entries are open globally for awards in visual art and children's games. Submission deadlines vary: January 31, 2025, for student and indie pitches, and December 31, 2024, for international games.

For the first time in its history, Anifilm 2025 is introducing a student games competition, expanding its commitment to showcasing interactive art. Historically, computer games have been part of the festival's broader programming, but this marks their debut as a standalone competition category. This initiative, known as the "zero edition," is open exclusively to students from the Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, and Slovakia—the Trojzemí region where these countries' borders converge. Eligible projects must be student-created as part of school assignments during 2024. Submissions will remain open until January 31, 2025.

Adding to its lineup, Anifilm will once again host the Game Pitch Arena, a computer game pitching session now in its second year. Supported by the PPF Foundation, this initiative provides an invaluable opportunity for indie developers to secure financial backing for their projects. Successful applicants may receive up to EUR 10,000 to support their development process. Game Pitch Arena applications, also closing on January 31, 2025, are open to studios from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and beyond. All pitch presentations will be conducted in English.

In addition to these new initiatives, Anifilm continues its tradition of celebrating international video game innovation. The professional game competition invites projects from around the world, highlighting experimental creators and visually artistic games. Categories include an Award for the Best Game for Children and an Award for the Best Visual Art. Entries for this competition must be submitted by December 31, 2024.
