The 27th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival in Greece (March 6–16, 2025) invites podcasters globally to submit works for its Podcast Section, including a €2,000 prize. Submissions close January 13, 2025. Eligible podcasts must premiere at the festival and run 20-30 minutes. Awards include the ENS Louis Lumière-French Institute prize for emerging audio creators.

The Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival (TIDF), one of the most prestigious platforms for nonfiction storytelling, has opened submissions for the Podcast Section of its 27th edition, scheduled for March 6–16, 2025, in Greece. The section invites podcasters from around the world to participate, with an emphasis on innovation and storytelling excellence.

The Podcast Section includes two primary components:

  • Podcast Competition: Eligible podcasters will compete for the coveted Best Podcast Award, which comes with a €2,000 cash prize.
  • Nexus Sub-section: Highlighting podcasts distinguished by compelling subject matter, innovative techniques, and creative use of podcasting tools.

Additionally, the ENS Louis Lumière-French Institute of Greece Award for Upcoming Audio Documentary Creator will be granted to an emerging podcaster from Greece, providing the opportunity to attend a six-week Sound Documentary International Summer Programme in France during summer 2025.

Selected podcasts will be showcased online on the Festival’s platform during the event. Both Greek and English-language podcasts are eligible, provided they celebrate their world premiere at the Festival and are not previously published on public or subscription-based platforms before March 16, 2025.

Eligibility and Submission Guidelines

Submissions are open for:

  • Fiction podcasts
  • Documentary podcasts
  • Fiction or documentary podcasts incorporating interviews

Each podcast must run between 20 and 30 minutes. Applications, along with supporting documents, must be submitted by January 13, 2025, via the official Festival website.

Special Award: ENS Louis Lumière-French Institute of Greece

The ENS Louis Lumière-French Institute Award is designed to support young Greek creators aged 25–35. Awardees will benefit from professional training in audio storytelling during a six-week program held in France. Candidates must be permanent residents of Greece and fluent in English.

A jury of industry professionals selected by ENS Louis Lumière and the French Institute of Greece will evaluate entries. The award will be presented during the 27th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival's awards ceremony.
