30th Critics Choice Awards Postponed Due to Southern California Fires
The Critics Choice Association (CCA) has announced the postponement of the 30th annual Critics Choice Awards ceremony, initially planned for January 12, 2025. The decision comes in response to the ongoing catastrophic wildfires ravaging Southern California. The new date for the awards is January 26, and the venue remains the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.
The ceremony will continue to air live on E! and broadcast internationally, ensuring global audiences can tune in. Additionally, the event will be accessible for streaming on Peacock the day after its live broadcast.
Joey Berlin, CEO of the Critics Choice Association, addressed the situation in a statement: “This unfolding tragedy has already had a profound impact on our community. All our thoughts and prayers are with those battling the devastating fires and with all who have been affected.”
The wildfires, described as some of the most severe in recent years, have resulted in widespread evacuations and significant damage across Southern California. The CCA’s decision underscores the severity of the crisis and their solidarity with those impacted.
The Critics Choice Awards, which celebrate excellence in film and television, are considered a key event in the industry’s awards season. Despite the delay, the ceremony is expected to maintain its prestige, honoring the year’s standout productions and performances.
This adjustment follows other disruptions in the region caused by the fires, reflecting a community-wide effort to prioritize safety and support for those affected.
