Oscar® Qualifying Fantoche Festival in Switzerland Opens Call for Entries
Fantoche, Switzerland's premier animation festival, has officially opened submissions for its 2025 edition, now with the added prestige of being an Oscar® qualifying festival. For the first time, the winner of the Best Film Award in Fantoche's International Competition will be eligible for nomination at the Academy Awards®, making this year's call for entries a significant opportunity for filmmakers worldwide.
The submission window began in January 2025 and will close on May 11, 2025. Eligible films include animated shorts completed after December 31, 2023, with a maximum runtime of 40 minutes. Notably, Fantoche does not charge a submission fee, emphasizing its commitment to accessibility for creators from all backgrounds.

Festival Director Ivana Kvesić expressed pride in the festival's new Oscar® qualification, stating, “We are delighted that Fantoche has been given this honour and this recognition, which acknowledges the work and commitment of Fantoche and all our colleagues at all levels.”
