Axe

Топор
by Robert Sahakyants

There were people in a village who did not know that an axe existed, and so in cold winter they warmed themselves with brushwood by breaking it with their hands, stones and other primitive ways. A passing lumberjack took pity on the poor people and gave them his tool. But the new woodcutters, not knowing how to use it properly, began to unintentionally kill and maim each other, so the village council commanded to throw the axe into the fire. The axe burned, and the blade heated and continued to harm people, so they decided to throw it into the dungeon. However, its floor was lined with straw, which caused it to catch fire first, and then the entire village. Nevertheless, when the fire ended, the inhabitants began to rejoice in the warmth emanating from the ashes.
