The Venice International Film Festival, known in Italian as Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica della Biennale di Venezia, is the world's oldest film festival and part of the prestigious "Big Five" film festivals globally. The 81st edition will take place from August 28 to September 7, 2024, at the Venice Lido in Italy. This festival is celebrated for providing filmmakers with a platform for artistic expression and is officially recognized by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF).
Organized by La Biennale di Venezia and directed by Alberto Barbera, the festival highlights include the awarding of the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement, which will be presented to Australian filmmaker Peter Weir this year. The festival will be hosted by Italian actress and model Sveva Alviti, with the jury presided over by French actress Isabelle Huppert. This annual event not only showcases cinematic art but also significantly contributes to the global film industry by premiering new films and hosting international competitions.
