Awards Selection About

Founded in 1978, the Sundance Film Festival is an annual event dedicated to independent film and new storytelling voices, organized by the nonprofit Sundance Institute. The festival presents a curated program of U.S. and international dramatic and documentary features, short films, episodic work, and new media projects across sections such as U.S. Dramatic, U.S. Documentary, World Cinema, NEXT, Midnight, and others. The 2026 Sundance Film Festival runs from January 22 to February 1, 2026, in Park City and Salt Lake City, Utah, with an additional online program for U.S. audiences from January 29 to February 1. As the final Utah-based edition before the festival’s relocation to Boulder, Colorado from 2027, the 2026 program includes a dedicated Park City Legacy strand and a tribute to founder Robert Redford, alongside premieres, industry events, and artist talks that underline the festival’s role as a key platform for contemporary independent cinema.
